Diary of a Hair Transplant - A Journalist’s Search for David Cassidy Hair

Filed under: Uncategorized — heaven @ 7:04 pm

Brian Boru Hair Transplant Book David CassidyOur patient driven hair loss community contains thousands of real hair restoration success stories and before and after hair transplant photos.

Recently, discussion  forum member and journalist Brian Beacom shared his hair transplant experience with our community. He is so pleased with his results that he used his journalist skills to athor a book titled “Diary of a Hair Transplant - A Journalist’s Search For David Cassidy Hair“.

In this enjoyable and personal testimony, Brian details not only his hair transplant experience, but how hair loss affected him and his great longing to restore his youthful appearance and acquire hair like the Partridge Family’s David Cassidy. His desire for the lustrous locks of a rock star captured his mind to borderline obsession until he found world renowned Coalition Physician Dr. Farjo that helped turn his hair restoration dreams into reality.

The book features his futile attempts at hair regrowth using a multitude of various alleged hair loss solutions and an attempt at understanding how those with hair love to mock those with male pattern baldness. Inevitably, Brian shares his reaction and research that led him to restore his hair through surgical hair restoration and how the Hair Transplant Network patient driven community helped educate and nurture him through the process.

For those of you struggling with losing your hair and interested in reading a personal and thorough account of one man’s hair restoration journey with photos, you may want to pick up a copy of “Diary of a Hair Transplant - A Journalist’s Search for David Cassidy Hair“.

Our Associate Publisher Gets His 4th Hair Transplant

Filed under: Uncategorized — heaven @ 4:05 pm

As many of you know from the recent posts on our hair restoration forum, I recently journeyed to Vancouver to see Dr. Hasson once again for my 4th hair transplant procedure.

To see a multitude of hair transplant photos including before photos with hair and shaved, immediately postoperative photos view my hair loss blog.

I also had the pleasure of arriving in Vancouver two days early so I could spend a day with a friend who lives somewhat local to the area. See photos of my trip to Vancouver and Stanley Park. I also got to meet and speak with Dr. Hasson, Joe Tillman, Dr. Wong, and several other staff members the day before surgery and was able to observe a portion of Dr. Hasson’s strip harvesting procedure and donor closure technique the day after my own hair restoration surgery and postoperative cleaning.

The hair replacement procedure lasted about 9 hours and I was entertained by pleasant conversation and movies. Dr. Hasson and his dedicated and experienced staff were diligently working to ensure I get the best possible result. Needless to say, their professionalism and expertise was impressive.

Now comes the second hardest part followed by the hardest part (the healing phase followed by the waiting phase).

Restrictions on Activities After Hair Transplant Surgery

Filed under: Uncategorized — heaven @ 2:49 am

This hair loss question was answered by Dr. Robert True of New York, NY who is a member of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians.  His professional answer is below.

Is there anything I should avoid doing after hair transplant surgery after it grows in?

Dr. True

Sun Exposure – Protect the transplanted scalp from the sun for two or more weeks, either with a hat or SPF 45 sunscreen spray when outdoors for more than 5 – 10 minutes. This is to prevent forming dark spots on the healing skin. As is always true, sun exposure after this time should be judicious and use of sunscreen is always advisable as good health practice.

Exercise and Sports – There are no restrictions. You can swim, run, do aerobics, weight lifting, and even contact sports without fear of damaging your hair restoration procedure.

Sexual Activity - There are No Restrictions

Video Interviews with Hair Transplant Physician Experts

Filed under: Uncategorized — heaven @ 10:17 pm

At last year’s Annual 2008 ISHRS (International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery) scientific meeting, Pat Hennessey, publisher of the Hair Transplant Network video interviewed almost 20 leading hair restoration physicians recommended by our community to help our members and visitors learn more about our doctors.  During the last several months, we edited these interviews and redesigned the video section of our website.

We encourage you to view these hair transplant physician expert video interviews to learn more about each doctor’s philosophy, technique, and hair restoration experience.

Many of our recommended physicians have already been video interviewed and can be found on their recommendation profiles. The new videos have been added to the Hair Transplant Network doctor profiles however, physician member profiles of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians are still in the process of being updated.

You are encouraged to view these existing and new interviews. View the Physician Hair Transplant Interviews.

A Very Hairy 2008 on the Hair Transplant Network

Filed under: Uncategorized — heaven @ 3:57 pm

During 2008, despite three lawsuits attempting to suppress free speech on our hair loss forum, we prevailed and our members continue to share their honest opinions and experiences. The “free speech” we enjoy on our forum is far from free. Our legal costs for 2008 were over $100,000.

As much as we dislike paying attorneys, we’d rather pay them than give into legal intimidation and delete true but unfavorable posts or allow hair restoration physicians with poor results to be presented on our community.

While other forums have caved into such legal intimidation (click here for details), we think the integrity of our community is worth paying a high price to maintain.  The other two lawsuits have been dismissed and are thus no longer pending. We will also continue to protect our forum community from covert marketing (see “Free Hair Transplants for Posting”).

On a lighter note, we celebrated the ten year anniversary of the Hair Transplant Network this past September during the annual ISHRS physicians meeting held in Montreal. Leading physicians and patients attended our ten year anniversary party. For highlights and photos from the party, view the “Ten Year Anniversary of the Hair Transplant Network”. To view highlights from the annual ISHRS scientific meeting, click here.

This past year we carefully reviewed and added seven physicians to our recommended list, while removing five physicians who we believe no longer met our high standards for recommendation. To learn more about how physicians are selected, visit How we recommend Hair Transplant Physicians.

We also were fortunate to have Bill Seemiller (aka “Falceros” on our forum) join us full time as our Forum Moderator and Associate Publisher. Bill is a veteran of three hair transplants (see his blog) and had over 4,000 volunteer posts on our forum before he was hired. He has done a fantastic job of writing hundreds of well researched articles for our Hair Loss Q & A Blog and our news sections on our sites. He has also worked hard to get all the physicians we recommend to post hair transplant photo albums every month to the forum “Results Posted by Leading Hair Restoration Clinics”.

Pat Hennessey, the publisher of our community, has continued to visit leading hair transplant clinics worldwide this past year to assure the quality of our recommendations. The highlights from these visits are in the forum “Visits to Leading Hair Transplant Clinics”.

Over 400 patients have shared their stories and photos on our free hair loss blogs, 150 of which were started in 2008. To view their transformations or share your own, visit www.hairtransplantnetwork.com/blog.

We look forward to helping balding men and women learn about the very best hair loss treatments and physicians, while providing and open and free forum for exchanging their experiences and opinions.

Best wishes for restoring your hair in 2009.
